This account of my five-week road trip into Mexico has been written as remembered, nearly two years after it occurred. The idea of writing a travel memoir occurred to me on a warm and sunny day in late June of 2019, cutting grass at a little nine-hole golf course here in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The process of recollection was like opening a spigot; memories of brilliant clarity poured forth, completely absorbing my attention as I feverishly penned page after page in my notebook—after work of course. Eight days later, the story was complete. All events and places described are true to memory, though names have been changed to protect the identity of individuals involved. The aging process has allowed the momentous and meaningful to remain, while discarding the mundane activities of nomadic life.
